I'm proud of her - she went from being an anti (think of the children!) to OK with it (well, you're safe with them, I don't guess I mind) to actually wanting her own gun and carry permit (think of protecting the children!) She picked out her own gun (SIG P238) and holster (High Noon Public Secret w/Straps) and will be taking her CCW class soon.

Her mom is going to lose her mind when she hears about this, but I'm pretty sure that an important part of being a son-in-law is annoying your mother-in-law. :D

Congrats!

My wife refused to carry until a 20 year old friend of our daughter's was murdered in cold blood.

Two weeks later, the wifey was in class.

It's very unfortunate when it takes a drastic event happening to someone they (they being any 'anti' not singling out anyone based on sex race ect ect) are close to, or even happening to them to 'convert' them into believers.

My ex was an anti until a threat was made against her by someone, and since I travel for work, at that point I no longer left her the option of remaining Anti. Fortunately she accepted the need.

My current wife is much more accepting of firearms. The only thing she try's to restrict is spending much money (as finances are tight at the moment), and she isn't a fan of me open carrying, as she is afraid of negative interactions. Right now the only pistols we own are 'hers' so she uses the "it's mine you can't carry it" line. I plan to solve this soon with the purchase of an XD9 and taking my CCP class, two things I've wanted to do for a long time. I'll see if I can get her to take the class to t least purse or vehicle carry as a starting point.

My wife went from being an anti to wanting to get her carty permit soley because of seeing wally world late at night....

Congrats. My wife was the same way. At first she didn't want any guns in the house, now she's coming home from shopping with random zombie targets and what not.

Yes, it's very important. What's even better in annoying the father-in-law. :scrutiny:

My father-in-law was an infantryman once upon a time (drafted and wound up an M60 gunner, but went to Germany instead of Vietnam.) He has no problem with guns. Her mom, now...

Today was my wife's first range trip with the little SIG. In honor of its size and our ongoing attempts to expand our family, she has named it "Baby Boom."

with a name like sergei mosin, you should make her carry a czech skorpion. I shouldnt make fun though. my wife had to break down & reassemble akm's & ak74's when she was growing up over there.

Well, the first pistol she ever fired was one of my Nagant revolvers, but that's not quite the thing for CCW. I think it may have put her off wheelguns permanently...

If I may say so myself, I'm proud of you and the family as well! That's just great as there's nothing like the feeling of knowing that your love-ones safety is to be protected via the choice to exercise their God-Given Inalienable Rights, namely, The Second Amendment of this great Nation!

-Cheers

Congrats! A built-in range buddy is a wonderfull thing. I just hope she doesn't prefer firearms that are outside your ability to afford; my wife LOVED the Les Baer she got to shoot...

My wife was more"why do you need a gun" than an anti. But i did get her to go to the range with me. I started her with the GP100 with some 38 HBWC,lite loads for a beginer. She wouldn't let me have it back till the box was empty and she hit the bull a few times.

Always feels good when someone gos from "hating" guns to "when can we go shoot"

Congrats

baby boom i love it

I wonder just how often women do start or at least consider using firearms "to protect their children".

Before my kids were born, my wife was ambivalent towards firearms. But once the first kid got here, and I was working lousy hours, she demanded to know how to use a gun. She ended up getting her permit, and to this day carries, even though the kids aren't kids and one has a kid of his own.

Interestingly, my DIL did make a comment or two about my wife carrying (not very ladylike). She now has a wee one, and is going to get a permit (shouldn't be two difficult, my boy is a LEO).

The old saying of "don't mess with the mommy" is true in spades when mommy can keep them all in the black, and knows what a double tap is.
