Our 33rd anniversary is around the cornor....so i ask my wife what she would enjoy as a gift and she said " i want a "pretty" rifle. I have 3 gun safes full of rifles, shotguns and handguns and to me all of them are "pretty", so i ask her...what do you think is "pretty"? she said..."something with nice wood and shiny bluing. not like that black plastic on i use every year".......ok
A little background: Since day one we have bird hunted together and hunted waterfowl and about 4 times a year she goes deer/antelope hunting with me. She has taken a few deer over the years but its more of a "get away" for her, though she a dandy shot with a scatter gun and not half bad with a centerfire. Also we punch paper with rimfires and handguns and shoot skeet for fun and to stay skilled. She has a couple fine shotguns and a few nice handguns that are "hers".
I have a budget of 1000.00. She is currently shooting a Savage 110 in 7mm08, wrapped in a tupperware stock. The budget is for the rifle only, as i have glass i can move from existing guns.
Currently im looking at these rifles as options Browning Medallion A Bolt/X Bolt, Weatherby Vanguard VGX, and the Winchester Super Grade. All of these can be had for close to the same money, with the Winchester being on the high side. Weight isnt a concern as she hunts from a blind or tower and rarely carries it in the field.
Im open to any ideas the cumulative mind power of this forum may have to offer.......BUT...it has to be "PRETTY!!!!! (diamond earrings and a good dinner would be so much easier!)
