I'm getting something like this 10/22 soon for my daughter once I'm convinced she has outgrown the BB gun. She might want the purple version instead. Either way, it is going to be "pretty" enough for her to take pride in it and to treat it well. I'm doing my best to raise her right.
Ruger also has the M77 in various larger sizes, but I don't know about pink, I've only seen the black laminate which is still eye-candy. I don't know much about the M77 either, but I wouldn't toss it out of my safe.
Might be the 'prettiest' 22 ever made, doesn't require months of planning to 'get out in the field' and they are just plain fun to shoot and accurate. My mom absolutely LOVES hers.
She needs a used Weatherby. Haunt pawn shops. You can find an early Vanguard for not too much $. Also you can find guns that guys customized. Mauser action - pretty wood. You might find a 25/06 which would be about perfect. I see Parker Hale bolt guns and a few semi-autos. They were pretty guns. You could just take one of you rifles and take it to a gunsmith and ask him to find a pretty stock for it. I think you can get a nice one for about $500. I'll bet you've got a couple of Remington 700's in your safes. I'll bet you've got a 7-08 in there someplace. Or a 257 Rbts. Put a pretty piece of lumber on it and your wife's eyes will light up. Then when she ignores the gun you can take it out and wow your buddies with it.
A CZ "American" or The Kimber Select. If she wants wood and shiny blued barrel, then she probably doesn't want a full stock, as that really detracts from the bluing.
She sounds like a really classy lady. Spend more money and buy her a Cooper M54 with either upgraded wood, or just get the custom classic with high polished bluing and upgraded wood. She's worth it.
Considering the description you provided, nothing but an American designed made firearm should be considered. And for a truly American rifle one would need to consider some of the first ones made in this country.
Well, Ive had an x-bolt since 2009 and I absolutely love the rifle. It's fairly lightweight. It handles well. I can easily control it. It has an extremely smooth bolt operation, and I also like that it only has the 60 degree bolt lift so you dont pinch your fingers on your scope. Mine is a 7mm-08. And it is very accurate for an out of the box rifle. The shot group below was when I first sighted in the rifle at 250 yards.
my vote would be a 250 savage or 257 roberts 1a or a international in 243 or 757. Nothing prettier then a nice #1 with good wood! At least nothing under a grand.
If the alternative is diamond earrings, you might want to take any half-way decent rifle and get it engraved. Same as you would with any engrave-able piece of jewelry.
I'm thinking "Old is Gold" applies well in this case. With the exception of the Sharps, they are all at or just over your budget. The Sharps I posted goes for $1800 new.
