So you can say with scientificly backed data that OC is 100% ineffective? If you can't say that, then you also can't say that it "would fail to stop the attacker," but enough semantics. Why is escalation of force such a foreign concept. You can easily keep a small thing of mace in your hand. You can't say the same thing for your CCW peice, not to mention just pulling it out in some places could get you charged with brandishing or cause you to loose your permit.

sounds like the guy needed to be in a hospital, to me. lot of nuts walking around because you can't lock them up unless they pose an immediate danger. involuntary commitment is a complicated process not often enough invoked.

last year i was at dinner with yang till midnight in luoyang. my bike was outside, so i offered her a ride home. she hopped on the backboard and off we went.
streets roll up at 10 around here, so a quiet city is the norm at midnight. halfway to heaven a lunatic starts running alongside us at abt 10 mph. he's grinning stupid from ear to ear and talking.
yang was spooked, but i've seen enough nuts to know one at a glance. the absence of shoes and dissheveled clothes are a dead giveaway. i just smiled at him and told her to chill. after a 1/4 mile he tired and let us be.
the next night we snuck into the zoo at midnight and rode the cable swing across the canyon at 2. got chased around the park by screaming chinese zookeepers on dirtbikes, stepped on a loon that howled like a disemboweled woman, almost fell into the monkey cage, and wound up in the big cat house. what a night! chicks love that kinda ????, but it was a hard act to follow.

I'm glad that everything worked out well. I help teach a self defense for female students at my university in conjunction with the campus DPS and THe first thing we teach is a comanding voice and phrases like "STOP! GET BACK!" and the like. A lot of times he student's dont seem to take it seriously and are giggling. I'm glad your wife knew the strong presence tactic and was prepared for the next steps. I may use this event as an example in my next class that is coming up in two weeks.
