My grandfather bequeathed this double-barrel shotgun to my dad back in 1972 when he passed away, and Dad left it to me. No markings of any kind that I can find. I have at least some of the missing pieces in a baggie.

It's in the same condition that it was in 1972, which is poor. My grandfather told Dad it hadn't been shot in many years, which I can believe.

Can someone identify what I have here?

I agree with the good Col. Pic of the lockplate that's still on the gun, close up of the top of the barrels, if there is a gripcap, that, and buttplate,

I kind of wanted to be able to read the grip cap......I was thinking it could be an L.C. Smith, as they have plain false sideplates like that, but they usually say L.C. Smith across the front bottom of the sideplate.

Why is the lever to the middle when the gun is open? That's not good.

Are the barrels laminated or damascus? They will have diagonal stripes the length of the barrel if so.

Not L.C. Smith, D.M. Lefever, or Baker. Likely foreign. Proof marks and maybe a manufacturer's code will be on the action and barrel flats.
If you don't have ALL the loose parts in that bag, you are out of luck.

L.C. Smith was my first thought. The sidelocks look just like those on my 16 ga. L.C Smith, except as you noted, the sidelocks are clearly marked. The safety on the upper tang also looks like an L.C. Smith.

"hardware store" shotgun that never got marked? Have a stock off a partial
"American Gun Company" stock that looks very similar. Prolly a Crescent as well.
