NAA Mini .22LR, will it save my life?

I finally had a chance to try a couple of these yesterday at the range. 22 & 22 mag.
After actually shooting them; I'll pass. I wouldn't even use one as a last ditch back up gun.
There are better choices. I find them to be too small and clumsy to operate safely and effectively under stress. YMMV

I think I need one of these now!

To answer the OP's question, yes. ABSOLUTELY it can. Can being the key word. And that CAN word applies to ALL firearms. Train with it. Get good at handling it.

Any gun that you can carry is better than none.

Other of the things you write reminds me of an old NRA sponsored video with Bill Jordan. Where He says: "if I know that I am going to a gunfight, then I will bring my 12 Gauge pump... AND some armed friends."

Where I live carry is impossible as handguns are forbidden. Rifles are free, but not very handy . fortunately Greenland is not a violent country. But I would love to have handguns and the choice to carry.

My mileage DOES vary. That's because I equipped the gun with a proper grip and learned what it liked in ammo and how to use it. It took more'n one range trip, but some folks don't persist, give up easily. So be it, but they're not the folks you wanna listen to.

Hell, first time I picked up my uncle's K22 masterpiece M17, I couldn't hit squat with it. Glad I persisted and didn't give up.

naa magnum pug....goes everywhere i go. supplied with speer gd's short bbl 40 gr hp. carries like a pocket knife, carried for many yrs shows some wear.

I realize .22lr and .22mag are both underpowered for self-defense, but so are .25 and .32 and I can carry more of (and afford to practice more with) the rimfire stuff. I know there is data on both sides but the tests I seem to recall seeing suggest that .22mag performs and penetrates better than either .25 or .32.
The centerfire rounds are more reliable in going off unlike the rimfires. Even though they are only .25 and .32 at least they should go bang unlike a rimfire with more chance of misfire.

It is well known that a .22 can do its job. But also, it is always said accuracy is king. Can you really shoots good groups with such small guns? If you can, then I suppose you are not unarmed. But I can't see myself carrying anything smaller than 9mm for now. My PT709 is small enough to easily carry. When I'm getting older and the recoil gets too much for me, I will not go any lower than a small 32 auto. If I can't shoot the 32 anymore, then I will get a bodyguard:D

Well you can hop on the .380 bandwagon as they are making more of those smaller like a Taurus Curve, or Kahr P-380.
Even go up to a Kahr PM9 which is 9mm.

C'mon fella's...........you are NOT gonna shoot 'groups' with the damn thing..........you ARE gonna stick the muzzle in someone's eyeball, liver, groin or any other conveniently close body part to get the reaction you want!

Just remember, keep it in context, those NAAs are nowayshapeorhow hammerli target pistols!!

Some of them are capable of good groups. The Black Widow has a longer barrel than my S&W J-frame (a whole 1/8", but it's longer) and the grips and sights are much better than the standard NAA mini. Of course practice is required.

I have seen what one of those tiny mini revolves in .22 LR do to one of those construction signs or horses with light on top. It went through both sides of the wood. I would say at close up range which it is for it would be very deadly.:what:

Whether the caliber is .22, .380. or 9mm, a 2 inch barrel is still a 2 inch barrel. My 22WMR Black Widow can be as accurate as any other 2" barrel gun if I do my part. Aren't we talking about a close quarters gun here anyway? I carry my NAA when size or conditions do not allow me to carry more. Nuff Said :)

That is true, but what if the bad guy is 5-10 meters from you and also armed? Then you would want a bit more accuracy. Not all confrontations are at bad breath distance...

I had a Mini-Master with both cylinders .22LR and .22 MAG. When I shot the .22 Mag the pin would work itself loose. I couldn't get the gun adjusted so I bought a laser for it just for fun. I also had a .22LR and >22Mag mini revolvers. They are very small and well made. At this point if I had to do it all over again I would probably just get one mini revolver in .22 mag. instead of 3 of them.

What if the bad guy is unarmed, sitting on top of you and pounding your head into the pavement (someone named "Zimmerman" comes to mind). Then accuracy won't matter at all to you, you just want a gun to stick in his ribs or eye and pull the trigger. Not all confrontations are at "sniper" distance....?

I wouldn't want to trust my life to it. But I'd much rather have it than nothing. That being said, if an attacker gets less than 10 feet away, they are probably going to get to you before a few .22 lr rounds stop the attack.
