In my mix of ammo for my Wasp in 22 Mag, I had a box of Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 40 gr. GDHP-SB. Fired two round and the cylinder jammed. Had a heck of a time getting it out. Reloaded, tried again, another two rounds and a jam. Went back to all the other brands I had with me including CCI, CCI Mini-Max, Fiocchi and Hornady Critical Defense. NO problem. Everything fired as fast as I could get them out of the little gun but the Gold Dots continue to jam the cylinder. Looks like the cases are expanded too much and not contracting at all after firing. Ideas?
thanks,

Ideas?

Simple don't use Speer Gold Dots.

I'm not being a smart aleck. My Taurus M-931 loves Gold Dot ammunition and hates Winchester and CCI. I have never found any Hornady to test in it. The problem I am having is I can't find any Gold Dot locally and am unwilling to pay the high prices on the Internet.

Drail, no they are a nickel looking compound.
BSA1......Duh!

Just wondered if anyone else experienced this.

What do you mean by "jam the cylinder"? Is the bullet in the unfired chambers jumping their crimp and preventing the cylinder from rotating?

What I have experienced with some brands of 22 Magnum is the fired brass sticks tightly in the cylinder and is very hard to eject.

While I didn't stop to really examine it as I was bent on shooting a bunch, I think the back end of the case expanded and took away any clearance in the headspace area. At least, that's what it felt like. I did check the bullets and they had not crept forward to inhibit rotation. I still have 35 of the Gold Dots left and I'll experiment with it next time at the range and report back, probably in about 2 weeks.
