Name ONE firearm you wouldn't be caught....

Will never be caught dead without a P238 in my pocket. Ever. There may, and probably will be something else on my person such as an P938 or EMP, but the 238 is a constant.

Not sure, so I'll pontificate...

My basic, all the time, everywhere carry gun is an H&K USP40(c). I like the controls, it fits my hand, it has suitable power and it's the one on my HR 218 carry permit. Sometimes, when I carry on my state permit, I'll carry a S&W Chief's Special with an extra speedloader in my trouser pocket; not often.

As far as having, I will always have a Colt Government Model available. For most of my life, I have been associated with the item and have carried them extensively. The particular pistol is wrapped up in my identity.

I'm sure the Good Lord would recognize me anyway when I get to the Main Gate, but why take chances?

A PM9 is my carry piece but I'd size want such an issue I would say Glock 19. Not that it is a huge gun by any means, just not that comfortable to me for regular carry.

If I had to choose just ONE, it would be my Glock 30. I enjoy my G34, and still love my 1911s, but the G30 is a hoot to shoot and carries 11 rounds of 45acp....

Any one of my Glocks for a handgun--leaning toward G19 or G23. 16" AR15 w/ EoTech and BUIS for rifle. Pump shotty w/ 00 buck. Can we have one of each please? :D

Nail

If people didn't get their undies in a bunch about open carry I would always have my glock 34 on me. But until SHTF(haha) ill have my comfortably hidden kahr pm9.

If I was in danger, and I only had access to a high point .22lr, I would still try to use it. Heck, even if as only a blunt instrument.

A S&W J frame snubbie would do quite nicely, either a Model 638 or a Model 649.

Allow me to add a bit more info: I, and my wife, CCW every time we leave the house, Being a former LEO, I understand the concept of 'personal responsibility'. Therefore, I am NOT going to 'be caught dead' without SOME means of personal protection. For me, now, it's an S&W 640, rated for +P+ ammo. My load of choice is Buffalo Bore's HVY 158 gr. LSWCHP+P w/gas check. My wife carries an S&W 351PD with Hornady's latest.

Others reading this will say they 'wouldn't be caught dead' without their AR, AK, etc, etc, etc. I understand the value of a good rifle/carbine, but tend to think too much emphasis may be placed on something that tends to stay 'hidden' in a safe, closet, etc, rather than something of a more immediate use.

Make sense?

It's all obviously (or better yet, hopefully ;)) conjecture, but it's really hard to say. I get where you are coming from with your CCW piece but what if society degenerates into utter chaos (you being former LE can relate) and you now need the ability to 'fend-off' multiple threats to your property, some well beyond pistol distance (perhaps they are nailing you down with long-gun fire from +++yards away). Yet if you only have that shotgun or AR and jettison your CCW to pay for it (I know people making tough financial decisions nowadays so it's Happening) and society improves (yeah, right...) ooops, now one is absent a carry piece. So I can never answer these types of threads with "one gun" but do read them and find them more entertaining than what's found on the Net or TV (not saying too much now is it...).

-Cheers

Wouldn't be caught dead with or without?

Well, I once had a Clerke .22 revolver that had a forcing cone almost as big as the outside diameter of the barrel and the chambers indexed so poorly that it spit chunks of lead from both sides of the cylinder gap......Oh, never mind. I thought you asked about the one gun I wouldn't be caught dead with. But aside from that, the plastic mock tourtus grips and thick chrome plating really made it a great looking display piece. And if you ever ran out of Zamak to cast toy soldiers with you could always melt it down and probably have enough metal to cast 3 little Army men. Gosh I wish I still had that fine little revolver. It was so accurate that you could easily hit a 40 gallon garbage can at 10 feet. Don't know if it would penetrate or not, but it might be a great less lethal weapon to stop a mugger. Or get him really angry. I can't believe they stopped making them, but at least we can still buy a High Point. Cost more, but the price of Zamak has gone up

kel-tec pistols - to cheaply built IMO, the fanbase has websites to tell you how to make the gun more reliable, implying that theya rent 100% guns out of the box.

hi-point - gaudy, throwaway piece

charter arms - being a taurus fan that catches crap from smith owners I have to pass the buck to someone.
