I can vouch for the CZ and the Ruger (compact versions, anyway.) Good luck.

From your provided list I would get the CZ75 just becuse I'm intrigue by it, it gets high remarks all over the net. I own a XDm45, it's a very nice gun but not for me. I know you didn't mention it but checkout the M&P line.

From your list I'd say the CZ Then the Beretta, I would also suggest a Browning Hi Power if you like 1911s

I bought a CZ75B SA without ever handling one based on the legendary ergonomics. I was not disappointed. It feels great, points well, is accurate and reliable. YMMV

How big is your hand? I have a big hand, so the Beretta works for me. I also like the hammer on the rear of the pistol, from a safety prospective. I don't like any of your other choices.

I do like the BHP carbon fiber special edition version. When I go to the range tomorrow, I'm gonna rent the XDM and the Beretta. I'm gonna handle the Ruger and a Sig, (that's all that's there).

KSDep I have 2 Colts for my .45 fix, this is just for flinging cheaper 9mm at a target.

I own the SR9 and a CZ75b Stainless.

My stainless 75B is a beauty and way more accurate than I'm capable of taking advantage of. For me though it'll never be more than a range queen.

My SR9 on the other hand does all three for me. It's very accurate, slim and carries easily in my DM Bullard holster. Tactically, it holds 17+1 and every pull of the trigger is the same (striker fired) and it has never failed. What's not to like?

The SR9 fits the bill for what you've described.

From your list my first choice as a fun gun would be the CZ75.

Now if the list was an open choice? I would look at a Sig 228, 226. Browning HP. Glock 19. Right now there is a sale at the local Acadamy sporting goods on a Tristar (C120 I think) clone of a Cz for just under $400. That looks like a deal on something that is just going to the range to burn up ammo.

BERETTA 92 or SPRINGFIELD XD9

I have shot and owned the BERETTA 92, SPRINGFIELD XD9 and CZ75.

I rate the BERETTA 92 and XD9 as the best for the same reason.
All three are very reliable, so it is a tie there.
The differences are in the details.
The XD is in a separate class. It is lighter and has a single action or GLOCK like safe action trigger. That alone makes a comparison with the others difficult.
The BERETTA 92 and CZ75 are both large, accurate and very reliable 9m.m. pistols. The BERETTA gets my nod for better trigger and the lack of a hammer dropping safety on most CZ75's makes them a second choice to the BERETTA. It is simply safer to use a hammer dropping safety in my opinion.

I would try the BERETTA and XD at a range, side by side and see which shoots best for you. Both are excellent guns.

good luck,

Jim

Ignoring OP list which is rude:

Browning HP
FN FNX
S&W 39
Glock 19

No particular order & just another opinion.

you can forget about the rock island. ive been trying to get one since they supposedly came out. no one has them no one has seen them i dont know if they even exist except for the one that always pops up at shot show.

I hear that argument a lot, about dropping a hammer on a live round. It is neither difficult nor dangerous, but if it really bothers you CZ sells the CZ-75BD, PCR, P-01, P-07, P-09 and other models with decockers. In fact some of their newer pistols are designed to be easily converted by the user from manual safety to decocker with the Omega trigger.

I have CZ's, and Berettas, and think the CZ's are equal or better to the Berettas in every way.

New list:
1 Beretta 92f INOX (usa)
2 Sprfld XDM (yeah still made in Croatia)
3 FNX (Made in USA)
4 CZ 75B (looks sweet)

Anyone have experience wit the FNX 9mm?

That CZ75 is a nice gun, not sure I would want to carry it daily though.
I rented these in Florida and was very impressed:

SIG P226
Springfield Armory XD-9
FN FNS-9
Glock 17 (Gen 3)

Let it slip

Pirate and Pilot,

The OP did not ask for a list of guns that need modifications, he asked for advice.

If you like the safety on the CZ75, good. Most CZ models DO NOT DROP THE HAMMER SAFELY, you do it manually and take a risk.
Given a choice of a gun that drops the hammer safely or one that does not, I will go with the safer gun, other wise, why buy a double action over a single action?

Please give correct information. Dropping the hammer on a live round is safely done if you now what you are doing, and it is very easy to learn. My point was you can get CZ with both manual safeties, and decockers. CZ's now have more models with decockers than not. All the Omega trigger models can be switched to decocker by the end user in a few minutes without tools.

It is just a personal preference, but one is not "safer" than the other.

The thumb safety on the Berettas seemed very awkward to me when I was shooting one—the position on the CZ is way more natural to turn off on the draw.
Me too. That is why I do not use the safety on the Beretta. It is a DA/SA pistol, no need to engage the safety when holstered.
