Natches Shooters Supply

While on the Natchez site, I selected a few items and went to check out. In doing so, the shipping seemed a little high to me, so I ran a UPS and USPS rate calculator on the weight of my order. Natchez was charging me more than the actual shipping cost. Natchez also charges you a mandatory insurance fee, BUT UPS provides free insurance on shipments up to $100.00, so essentially, on an order =/< $100.00. Natchez is charging you an insurance fee when the insurance is provided free from UPS, and on orders over 100.00 you are still paying an inflated rate because the initial 100.00 should have been free.

I called Natchez and asked if they charged handling or packaging on their shipments. Their response was that they only charge actual shipping rates (and I confirmed this twice), BUT, after some prying and asserting that the rate generated on their site was considerably more than what it actually costs to ship, the person on the phone said they only charge actual "shippinghandling" and insurance charges. When I addressed the conflict of information he provided, he said he misunderstood what I asked.

As for the "insurance charge," he offered no explanation to justify why Natchez charges customers a fee for a service the shipper provides free of charge.

If you do not mind paying these fees, that is fine, and I fully understand that it costs money for packaging, BUT disguising these fees and charging a customer for a free service is inexcusable IMO. In fact, I wonder the legality of charging someone for a service that they do not provide and how much it adds to their bottom line every year.

I have bought ammo from Natchez and have had no problems with their pricing, either on the item or the shipping. Surplus ammo is better purchased elsewhere, but for new factory ammo in reasonable amounts their prices are really decent. Last order I got a bunch of my shoot-only-occasionally calibers a few boxes each (.41, .50AE, .500 S&W, 44 special) plus a case of .45 and I thought they did a good job putting it all in one box and getting it out quick.

Used Natchez manymany times ofer the years and have been more than satisfied with there service. H ave shopped around for price and even with shipping and the other charges usually cheaper from Natchez.

If one does not like their policies I'm sure there other merchandisers very willing to rip you off.

good to know of more options. where is Graf's?

i bought my press, some supplies, and misc from Natchez, very satisfied until i read the extra chg post:cuss:. if everybody sqwauks about it maybe they will drop the fees.:uhoh: i had a small bowl of delusion for breakfast. :what:

i despise midways websight, showing you 100's of items that are not in stock and can't be ordered, i spend more time sifting through that crap than its worth, i occasionally use them as a price check, but they haven't ever got my money. i love there e-mails, save 75% on item "A", a quick check on allot of other sights still shows it 3-5% higher than the everyday price elsewhere, thats not the way to solicit me.

i have had good luck w/ natchez, i love having that master catalog as an immediate reference.

I've had good luck w/Natchez. some time back I had a fairly good sized order come to me in a large cardboard box that was busted open at one bottom corner and the top had taken a lick also. there was some damage to some cartridge cases - they replaced them. and also a couple of bulk packs of bullets were busted open and some obviously had fell out the hole and they sent replacements. My UPS driver is a shooter also and I showed him the damage, he concurred that packing should have been better, I mentioned this when I contacted Natchez customer service - no complaints from them when I told what appeared to have happened.

The bulk of my shooting/reloading supplies I buy from midway. I just tried to run up an order from them, ran into item after item "out of stock-back order okay" or no back order! Since I just went, looked up the Natchez link, I'll take a look, see if they have what midway doesn't!

The local gunshop is no help, he can't seem to get stuff either. Upon pressing him a bit, he admitted the local wholesaler quit shipping free to his door, what with the high gas prices. That's where he gets most of his powder/primers.

This place is pretty good. Although they are not as popular as places like MidwayUSA, they have far better prices (At least on the stuff I've been looking at). For example, The RCBS Rockchucker Supreme Master Reloading kit is like $250 at Midway, and only $220 at Natchez. Another item I saw was the RCBS chargemaster 1500 scale/dispenser combo. Midway's regular price is $300. Natchez has it for $240. Natchez even beats Midway's sale price on that combo by $30.

So if anyone is looking to buy anything make sure to check Natchezss.com first. I was going to buy a lot of stuff from Midway, but ended up buying it from Natchez because it was way cheaper. I think they can afford the cheaper prices because their website is not as nice and flashy as Midway's, but to me, it doesn't matter what the website looks like as long as I get my product.

Do you have a link to a chargemaster combo for that price? I looked and it is 289.95 for me.
