Scroll down to the Alabama shoot date and pre register!

Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, but tell them early. We have limited space and they will fill up quickly!

Come on down...but be careful -- both of you will likely get a rifle and ammo put into your hands!

:)

Is there a coherent description of what an Appleseed shoot is, rather than what it isn't??? I might be interested...

An Appleseed shoot is a day of instruction in basic rifle marksmanship, zeroing rifles, and use of the sling. It is a chance to be with other wannabe-rifle-shooters and members of the gun culture.

There is NO making fun of people who show up with AR15s. There is NO making fun of folks who cannot shoot well. There is NO making fun of folks who have never handled a rifle before.

What you will find is calm, positive, motivated instructors who genuinely care about preserving America's legacy of rifle marksmanship, and who care about teaching, not about puffing themselves up in front of newbies.

Hope that helps.

An Appleseed...

A place to meet other novices who want to learn how to do it right.

A place for people with some experience to learn more. (This was me.)

A place for experienced riflemen to help others, or discover if they want to get actively involved with teaching.

A place for people to have fun and make friends, and never feel unwelcome, no matter how short or tall, large or small, married or single, AR or M1, .22 or .303, Toyota or GMC.

June is coming...

Hello everyone...

Just wanted to updaye veryone. June is not that far away and we are gearing up for the First Annual Appleseed shoot in Bimingham, Alabama.

I have read Fred's column about the "Nation of Rifleman" for a very long time and finally decided to get with the program.

I am confident that everyone who attends will benefit, either from learning something new or from helping a newbie become a better shooter.

If you live in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Lousiana you can usually make Birmingham in 6 hours or less. Our range is excited about the chance to host this event and want to make sure everyone who wants to attend has the oppotunity.

If you have any questions, feel fre to contact me directly here or via e-mail at : [email protected]

Stay tuned for more information...

Nice of you! I hope it all goes smoothly and safely!

My family would love to do an Appleseed shoot, but...
Too bad the RWVA site is SO unnavigable! 90% of the stuff on it is from 2005, and there's still no info about dates/locations for a Texas shoot. :(

spartacus, I just got signed up there, but there hasn't been any news on a DFW shoot for over a month... :(

I want to be there..

hopefully, I'll be over my surgery by then. Myself, I'm bringing an old Enflied #4, Mk. 2, so nothing fancy here.

If I can clear my weekend I'll be there. Does it matter what type of rifle I bring? It's either a mosin nagant or a marlin 336.

Thanks thereisnospoon, this is important.

Type of rifle does not matter so long as:

1. it has a forward sling attachment point, and

2. you have a means of reloading it quickly (i.e., magazines or stripper clips), because some of the AQT stages call for rapid-firing a set number of rounds with a reload. A Mosin would do 5 rounds then reload with 5, whereas a Garand, AR, M1A, etc. would do 2 rounds, then reload with 8.

PS I'm partial to Mosins ever since I owned an M39. Deadly accurate, but what a thumper!

Reminder!

The First Annual Appleseed Shoot in Bimingham, Alabama is just arouns the corner. The 24-25th of June is a month away.

Please register to attend and tell a friend or two about the shoot!

Thanks

Yikes, I'm arriving pretty late to this post's origin...is there still space for the B'ham shoot (as of 4 June)? I live in the area and am VERY interested in this...

Also, if a person could only attend one of the two days (I noticed the registration form gave that option), which day would you recommend?

Thanks,
TheFrontRange

Thank you much, Spartacus...this sounds like a GREAT suggestion for my kids to get me for Father's Day hahaha!!! :)

Hey guys,

I went to the event in Worland a week ago, and it was great. I have shot a rifle like 3 times before showing up and with Spartacus and Slappy there, I was showing marked improvement. After the second day I was able to hit a 12" circle at 300 yards 2 out of 5 times. I loved it.

They will make exceptions for people with disabilities, just let them know in advance.

These guys will work you, but you will be all the better for it. No one is made fun of, and no one's rifle is "put down" or anything like that. They have a jones for M1A's, but that's just a preferance.

Bring about 450rds for the weekend.

HG

We were at Worland too.
IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still a cook, but the wife shot rifleman after 2 days.
Learned a ton, it's a great program and pretty cheap for good instruction.

We never ran more than 200 rounds each for a whole day. Depends on your group, how fast you run, etc
300 rounds should be more than enough.
My wife's post on what to bring:
