Today is National Ammo Day, the day to buy at LEAST 100 rounds of your favorite ammo.
Walmart is the best because they track their sales with precision and might notice the uptick.
12:00 Central is the witching hour.

National Ammo Week started on 11/11, Day being today 11/19 (Ammo Week ends on Day). Bought a case of Wolf Match Extra yesterday at Champion Shooters in New Albany, OH. Excellent price $370/case. (They are closed Sundays.)

Shooting 100 rounds as well today...

Going to the range to check zeros and shoot a little. I'm sure I will burn 100 rounds between a little offhand for Highpower Rifle at 200 yards, 2 different K31s at 100 and 200, some .22 Wolf Match Target off the bench with a CMP H&R M12 for my nephew to try and get him seeing the sights...might double check some Mil-surp deer zeros on the K98, 1909 Arg, Garand...

Terrific weather and 26 more doe tags to go.

For this year's Ammo Week:

2 boxes of Winch 9x19; 100 rds ea
5 boxes of 308, 30-06 & 300WM for a total of 100 rds
1 Lyman turret press.

When Kim Du Toit started this, (his birthday IIRC) wasn't it just Ammo "Day"? When did he expand it to National Ammo Week?

National Ammo Week? I have no idea what you all are talking about. Sounds like a forum creation. I buy ammunition all the time; this week, next week, next month. All the same.

I appreciate the concept of National Ammo Day, but I have a difficult time respecting the tradition due to a personal row with its conceptual creator. He and I had a falling out, and despite both his change of view on the discussed topic and my repeated attempts to repair communications, he shut me down in a very immature fashion.

Not too fond of "personality cults", no I'm not.

(I'm talking about this guy, by the way.)

Personality has nothing to do with it--it is the message that is important.

If (estimated) 80 million gun owners went out and bought 100 rounds of anything on the same day, that would be an unmistakeable spike on the radar screen.

Of course if they all voted too...ah, don't get me started.

Bloggers are really nothing more than a source of entertainment. I try not to get into a personal row with my entertainment; but then, I have thrown the occasional tape in the trash/out the window.

As a political statement, Ammo Week does have a certain appeal and (potentially at least) a chance of making impact. I wonder if it is a blip yet.
It HAS grown, and I do hear about it from more sources each year.

I bought 1350 rounds (6 boxes of 225) of .40 S&W from Dick's on Friday. They had a good sale this past week, 25% off UltraMax value packs. A few of my friends also bought 5 boxes each. We bought out the entire stock of Dick's .40 caliber in 3 different stores. Wish they had more in stock, would've bought more at those prices (13.3 cents/round).

Lets see over the next 30 days I will be buying the following ammo:

100-200 rounds of 12ga 00
500 rounds of 7.5x55 Swiss
300-500 rounds of .45ACP
50 rounds each of .357mag,.44mag,38spl,44spl
500 rounds of .22LR
1080 rounds of 7N6 5.45x39
100 rounds of .45LC

Hope this helps.

Last week

I ordered a case of Greek '06 from CMP. Should be delivered today if FED-EX can find the place.

Ammo Day needs to be moved closer to Independence Day:D That way I have more disposable income to throw at it. Christmas gets expensive, and I only bought 100rds of WWB 9mm and a brick of .22LR.
