Hello folks! This is my first post here, but I've lurked for awhile, and am an active poster over on glocktalk.com.
I was thinking about how in many States, open carry is becoming more accepted, as are firearms in general. So why not somehow coordinate this so that those who often open carry (or are at least open to doing it) can pledge to do it on a certain day of each month.
As more and more people recogize open carry as a legitimate self-defense tactic, more and more people will be noticed while doing it. Choosing one day out of each month to make a conscious effort to openly carry will aggregate those who only do it sometimes, and make more of an impression on the public and media. Consider writing your local media about it!
So, for those whose States (correctly) recognize this right, let's make the *2nd* of each month National Monthly Open Carry Day. If you normally carry concealed, but are able to openly carry, do so on that day. Make a point of going to public places where you will be seen. Go about your normal business.
For more info on the practice and legality of open carry, check out www.opencarry.org -- many States allow it, most without any license needed.
If you commit to this idea, post here. Please don't turn this into a thread about whether open carry is a good idea, as there are other threads about that already. This is about those who already openly carry, or are open to it, committing to doing it for sure one day a month (the 2nd). Thanks.
God bless this great nation!
