I have a New England Arms , 3" 12 ga single shot with modified choke. Will it safely handle slugs?

If not, is there a sabot alternative?

I used to shoot them in a couple old singles my grand dad had. I'm pretty sure they were full choke barrels (when we started). Not so sure they remained full choke though after several years of slug shooting tough.:)

Accurcy MAY NOT be optimum, but if the barrel is in good condition, you will be OK to shot slugs.

Generally Speaking, the standard rifled slug (AKA Forster-style) will be best in a non-rifled barrel, with most often no tighter than Improved Cylinder choke.

The plastic-jacketed slug, known as a "Sabot Slug" is best with a rifled barrel, or if you have swappable choke tubes, a rifled tube.
