Neck sizing .308

Just to clarify what I'm doing when I say I'm FL sizing (using Dillon FL die)

I'm bumping the shoulder back from it's 1.625" fired dimension ~.002".

So I'm really bump sizing, I guess

Just an FYI, that's the measurement that you're getting from the Hornady Headspace gauge, but due to the radius on the inside of the .400 gauge (and their other gauges) you'll get a measurement that's about .009" short. I discovered this by measuring PT&G and Forster GO and NO-GO gauges. The minimum SAAMI chamber for .308 Win is 1.630" from the bolt face to the datum on the shoulder so your fired brass should measure (true measurement) somewhere around 1.630" and typically will measure 1.630" to 1.634". Obviously it's a relative thing and you're resizing cases and loading ammunition relative to your actual measurements so it's no big deal ... just an FYI as I mentioned.

Thanks MCMXI. That makes sense.

As I'm shopping around for annealing equipment, I came across one that looks like a good option.

And then there's several examples of home built variations, from cave man to Rube Goldberg complexity.

I can't justify the induction system you have

I use a home made "button" to check shoulder position on .308 brass. It gives me an arbitrary number, but I can control how much I move the shoulder with it. I also have a Wilson case gauge for .308.
