M&P .40 Compact was my choice. I added the CT laser, TFO night sights and did an upgrade to the trigger using the Apex Tactical hardened sear and striker block kit to give it one of the best triggers in my safe.

I love my Beretta PX4 Storm in .40, full size version that I can conceal pretty easily if dressed appropriately. Soft recoil and perfect balance (for me), the guns accuracy is better than me. Adds good capacity to the list 14+1 or 17+1 if you want an extended clip, the cost of extra magazines is the only downside.

I recently had the same idea as you and also opted for the 40. I have had several G23 and really like the way they feel. However I can not shoot them as good as the fullsize glocks so I opted for the 22. Shoots great and a lot smaller than my G 20. I still kept my 20 somethings are hard to let go of.

My EDC is a Steyr S40 ... but good luck finding one.

If I was to replace it, I like the S&W M&P compact or maybe the CZ P07 Duty.

Damn, do you think we gave ya too many ideas?

If you can afford it get an HK or Sig, you won't be disappointed. Otherwise, I suggest you research all of the above.

You won't go wrong with a Sig 229. Or, if you're after something even more concealable, a Walther PPS. Mine just disappears in an IWB holster, even under a compression-type T-shirt. :what:

SA XDm Compact. One compact magazine and one 16 rounder with grip extension giving you a CC gun and a full size for the range.;)

Sig P229 HANDS DOWN! The gun was originally designed for a 40. It just feels right. You'll love it.

If you want something that is light & realiable try a S&W .40 Cal CS40. I think it weighs in at 23.9 ounces unloaded and there are a couple for sale in the classified. Excellent reviews. Good luck.

My favorite carry pistol is the HK P2000SK in 40S&W. Conceals very easily also. Good luck with your decision.:)

You really can't go wrong with any of the major manufacturers discussed so far. Shoot as many as you can, buy the one that you like the best.
