I am going camping/hunting in the Adirondacks this fall primarily for deer/beer but plan on carrying my unscoped 5.5" buckmark camper for small game I encounter. Depending on the weather I may or may not have a belt accessible (my bibs don't have belt loops), so this limits many of my holster options. The traditional style holsters obviously attach directly to a belt. Most shoulder holsters clip to a belt to hold it secure. The bandolier style just don't seem like they would stay secure. What I'm picturing is a shoulder holster that secures itself with a 'belt' that wraps around your chest or waist. Anybody seen anything like this or have other recommendations?

This one looks perfect, but it isn't for unscoped autos....

Here is a shoulder holster that hangs from your shoulders and puts the gun in the middle of your chest: El Paso Saddlery "1942 Tanker"

I might also suggest a flapped belt holster worn crossdraw. This will prevent your rifle stock from banging against the handgun as well as protect the handgun from brush. They can make you one of those, too.

bianchi hush system... they make them for scoped and unscoped guns..

I have no idea if they make one for the ruger .22 line, but they are one hell of a nice hunting holster that fits your needs.
