THE CHAIR IS AGAINST THE WALL
I'm trying to find some of the stories reported a couple of years ago dealing with a New Yorker who shot a burglar in his home with an unregistered pistol. IIRC, he had just recently moved to New York.

Since the search terms are kind of vague, my Google-Fu is of no use. Anyone have a link?

Links I found reffer to a Long Island man who shot a burglar with a .22 pistol, later arrested. New York Post Article, 1/1/2003 but all the links to the post reffering to it come up dead

Sheesh " that covers a lot of territory... However there was a man by the name of GOETZ pronunced (gets) how shot three young thugs on a subway train who approached him with sharpened screwdrivers his was not a regestered gun. One died ,the second is paralized the third survived . Mr GOETZ still lives and works in N.Y.C. the family of the paralized thug tried unsuccessfully to sue GOETZ .

Damn, about 4 years ago in one of my history classes we were given dates, and had to look up articles in the NY times (the only paper that our library kept issuse over 100 years old) and then find a relevent story in a current issue and compare/contrast how the issue has changed in 100 years. I found an article talking about the need for gun control to protect innocent people from criminals (pre Sullivan Act). The Contemporary story was about a retired Navy vetran who shot and killed an armed intruder outside the door of his kid's room. The shooting was ruled self-defense, but he was prosecuted for owning an un-registered gun.

found the story but needs a subscription:
