I favor 3 inch Kimbers.

Even my least expensive ones do the job.

But I prefer having them laser equipped for low light shooting.

Ahh ok that makes much more sense so it really only failed when your wife shot it I guess I missed that in the first post, was still waking up, and your totally right about Glocks and limp wristing. definitely not their strong suit. :)

Carried a Kimber UCII, great little gun, no issues other than an occasional early slide lock with ammo in the mag, but Kimber fixed that. The G36 is another slim single stack that makes a great carry gun. Only gripe with that one, was it would pinch your finger between the grip and mag, otherwise nice light carry piece. Both subcompact 45s I've dealt with, ran 100%, and personally prefer non manul safety carry guns. When SHTF for real, a safety may get you killed, unless you train with one under some real stress;)

I highly recommend the HK45C. I watched auctions and forums for 2+ years to find a good deal on a used one. New ones are IMO way too expensive.

I've owned too many 1911's to mention, Kahrs (never again), Sig P220 Carry, XD's and Glocks. The reliability, accuracy and ergonomics (in that order) of this little HK are stellar. YMMV....
