I'm going to get my first AR today and my buddy just called me and said he found someone wanting to sell their rig for $1800

Here's the set-up:

Rock River Entry Tactical (5.56)
4 sided rail
Eotech 512
Forward grip
3 pt sling
12 magazines
400 rounds of ammo
Hard shell case

How good of deal is this?

How good is Rock River?

Some of the best advice I ever got was - when you rush a decision you end up with lousy decisions.

Rock River is a good rifle. One of the better ones.
It sounds a little high priced for me. I would not purchase it for more then 1400 to 1500 dollars.

I was leaning toward the MP15 and I actually wanted that exact set up with the Eotechs and all. should I stick with the MP?

I'd say 1500 max is the price I would pay. But the ammo is the questionable portion. Depending on what it is the value of the ammo can vary greatly (is it wolf=less value, etc).

Buy in haste, repent at leisure. Pass on the deal or start your offer around $1400.

I went to a gun show this morning with $1300 burning a hole in my pocket and came back with $1288--entry and some overpriced jerky was all I bought. I just couldn't find a deal worth making although there were some "eager" sellers, but, for the most part, most sellers were awful proud of what they were selling.

Ok cool. I wanted to make sure I didn't buy in haste or pass up a sweet deal. Thanks guys.
