The question is this:

For Rem 700 (actually this is a Howa, but it takes Rem 700 bases):

Both Millett and Leupold have the base/ring combos with the turn-in front and the screw-adjustable rear.

Question is, will Leupold rings of this type fit into Millett bases of this type? I'm going to replace the medium Millett rings with high (new scope), and I want to switch to Leupold rings since Millett rings are crap - although the base is thick enough that even that Millett pot metal should hold up for a base.

Are the specs on the different brands standardized or not?

Uh...

On my Howa action (Weatherby Vanguard Sporter .30-06) I put Warne bases. They are perfect. I put on Warne's QD rings, and the scope was already bore-sighted when I put it on; that's how well the stuff fit.

They fit standard Weaver rings.

If I wanted to go with something universal, I'd go with decent Weaver-style bases, not the Leupold stuff. If you get decent bases/rings, you don't need the screw adjustment.
