Did a search but could not find an answer to my question....

Can anyone recommend a good shop type manual for Colt 1911's? (Name, author, etc)

A good manual is one that shows you how to tear one down, put it back together, tune it, modify it and trouble shoot it.

It should also have a lot of pictures and diagrams for guys like me.

Should be written in such a way that a reasonable gun guy can understand it.

I really would like to develop some personal skills that would allow me to tinker with my own 1911'a and possibly build one myself.

Thanks if you know and appreciate the advice.

Gentlemen...I appreciate the input. Just per chance, I was looking at the .45 Colt Automatic Shop Manual by Kuhnhausen just yesterday at the local gun store. (One reason why I'm inquiring here today.(

I wondered then if that might not be the best deal for me. Sounds like a good investement of $25 or so.

I believe it was two books in one but the website that you referenced BADSBSNF81 shows volume 1 and 2. I'll check that out as well.

Again, thanks for the input.

;)

Get V 1 and 2. Mine are all lubed up from having them on the bench. Ed Brown has a nice one for the bench as well, but only as a third book.
