Just bought a Taurus 85 and I'm not very happy with the factory grips. If I hold it the way that feels most comfortable to me, the bore axis points upward quite a bit. It is easy for me to compensate for this but I would like to change to another rubber grip that would maybe fit my large hands better and lower the bore axis if possible. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with the Taurus grips, and if so, what did you find that worked better? Hogue? Pachmayr? Thanks.....

I have had a set of Pachmayrs on mine for years since it was a knock around gun and they were really nice grips for it. Recently I have swithced to a set of Eagle Secret Service grips for it and they are much nicer for me.

Grips

Did you also notice the tendency of the factory grips to force the bore axis up? Did the new grips help to lower the axis closer to the horizontal? That's really what I'm after...grips that make the gun point more naturally at the target rather than having to consciously "aim." Like I said before, to me, it has a strong tendency to shoot high Does that make sense?

Both the Pachmayr and the Eagle points naturally for me. The Uncle Mikes like the stock grips both point high in my hand.
For the money the Pachmayr is a very good grip, I only changed because I prefer wood. This has been a gun that has been everywhere and the Pachmayrs still look like the day I bought them. They are well designed and the curl for the placement of the little finger helps greatly in controlling it for fast shooting.
I know the Eagles can't take the beating the Pachmayrs took and still look as good, but they sure look and feel nice now.

Compac Grips

Pachmayr’s Compac Grips are made from a specially formulated black rubber compound and are designed to maintain concealability. Although compact in design, Compac Grips still give a shooter total control, Compac Grips provide a secure, non-slip finish. That’s why they are the plainclothes officer’s preferred way to a more positive grip without compromising concealability.

Features:
• Shaped to conform to gun design
• Improved concealability
• Covered back strap
