Need Help! prices and values

First off long time lurker new register. I have a friend who's father passed and wants to sell of all his guns. I have no idea what they are worth and what year they were made in. I would be very appreciative if I could get some value and info on these.. They may turn up in the for sale forum too.


1. S&W model 661 2" 357 serial - 196**
2. S&W model 686 4" 357 serial - AJ***62
3. Thompson Contender with 35rem "super 14" barrel serial - 249***
4. Bryco Jennings Nine serial 127***8
5. RG Industries model rg42 .25 caliber
6. S/42 1938 serial 9104

Any help would be awfully nice of everybody. I also know this is quite a demanding first post so I apologize.

Your friend is going to probably going to have to pay someone to buy that gun


I don't have a great knowlege of the prices on the guns you have listed. If I were in his shoes, I would take a look on www.gunbroker.com or www.auctionarms.com . The prices there could give a decent indication on the going rates.

Any help at all would be nice, this person really would like to sell these and get a decent price for them. I understand about the bryco one, no problem there.

Well, if it's any help at all,the S&W 686,here in Calif. would bring $450 all day long,but I don't know about in the free states

A good place to start finding values, would be to pop over to www.gunsamerica.com and use the search feature to look up the model numbers.

The auctions sites, www.gunbroker.com and www.auctionarms.com would also provide you with a good idea of current prices.
