I started reloading last week with the RCBS rockchucker starter kit. I successfully made a batch of 9mm, but when I started on .223, I wrecked decapping/expanding part of the first die. The die is still good, as is the black thing that screws into it, but the part that expands and decaps is gone. Can I get just the middle part without a whole new die set? I went on Midway and think I found what I need, but I was confused between the "new style" and "old style". I'm not really sure what I have. I'd like to get extra decapping pins too.

Also, I can use .224 bullets for .223/5.56, right?

call RCBS and they will send you a whole new middle piece and extra pins for free

Try your local reloading supply store for decapping pins, RCBS is very common, as well breaking them. Set the depth 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch below the bottom of the die. They can shear off with a tight cap. A pack of 5 or 6 cost only a few bucks. Changing them is easy.

Get a Lee universal decapping die and you'll never break another pin. You will add one more step to your reloading process, but for $10 you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. Then all your expander/decapper has to do is expand. It will last forever.
