need help w/ bore guide

I have a Win Mod 70; I use a bore guide during cleaning and it is difficult to remove. I have been using a thin brass rod to push the ejector (?) down so I can extract the bore guide. While this works it is a PITA. I seem to recall somewhere I had read about a simple way to do this and I cannot find it. I do not seem to be able to problem solve this on my own obviously. What is the trick?
