Howdy,

So I have a Winchester 94ae chambered in 44 mag that came to me without a buttstock or tube/magazine. Can I use any Winchester 94 stock or? What about the tube?

Kind of at a loss where to find these parts...

Reloading bullet diameter for this rifle

Hey RC, or anyone else,

I have another question that has cropped up. I am looking to make some ammo for this. What size bullet diameter can it take? I know .44 mag bullets are supposed to be .429. I also read that 44 mag pistol specs vs rifle specs are: .429 and .431. True? I have both .429 and .430 bullets, but the .430 are jhp which I want to use for hunting. Can I use these? I'll be checking saami out to see if I can't find anything.

Also, update on the rifle.
Got it up and shooting but the place sent me the wrong parts. The tube was too long, so I cut it to 16" with a standard tube cutter. The front barrel/tube band would not fit, it was way too small. So it is currently ziptied into place, very firm fit, but only temporary until a new one arrives. It's a nice looking and shooting gun now!

.44 mag bullets are the same size whether used in a rifle or handgun.

You don't see commercial .44 Mag ammo listed as:
.44 Mag ammo with .429" bullets for handgun use only.
Or
.44 Mag ammo with .431" bullets for use in rifles only.

Jacketed bullets are either .429" (everybody else) or .430" (Hornady)
Lead bullets are generally .430" or .431" depending on your chamber throat measurements.

Despite internet rumors, Bore size is really not nearly as important as chamber throat size with lead bullets in a revolver.
