Need Help with a Hi-Power!

Ok,

So, I picked up a FEG Hi-Power clone (PJK-9HP) about three weeks ago and I've been rather impressed with it overall. Initially, accuracy was pretty darn good (~ 3" @ 25yds)...much better than I would have expected, but I've been making a modification here and there and suddenly the accuracy has gone out the window (erratic groups of maybe 3-4 shots in a 5" group @ 25 yards, and then 2-3 flyers that open the group up to 10-12")! I doubt I've become a worse shot so I'm not sure what the deal is. Here's a list of mods I've made (in order)...maybe you all can figure out what's up?

1.) Removed magazine disconnect safety.

2.) Polished feed ramp.

3.) Polished Sear/Hammer mating surfaces

4.) Polished extractor surface (that has to pass over the casing)

5.) Installed a recoil buffer do-thicky...although, accuracy seemed to drop
off before this addition was made.

Also, I've used the same ammunition throughout. Just the 100rd Winchester Value packs at Wal-Mart...not great stuff I'm sure, but at least ok? Perhaps the second batch's quality control was not good? Anyway, any help will be much appreciated!

Take out the recoil buffer and try different ammo...I've found some very, very weak ammo in the 100 rd packs....the 50 rd boxes were always good to go. I would only use the recoil buffer when firing +P ammo on the range, never for personal defense. Make sure there isn't a burr at the end of your muzzle.

Is it fair to say, then, that Wal-Mart's 100rd Winchester value packs are something along the lines of factory seconds or those that may have slipped through the fingers of quality control? The bulk packed .22lr stuff seems to be the same kind of deal...

Yeah, the recoil buffer should probably go too...I can't tell much of a difference, if any, and it makes it a PITA to disassemble the gun!

Well, I was trying some in a BHP and a few wouldn't even cycle the slide enough to pull the empty out!....evidently didn't get a proper powder charge. Never had that problem with their 50 rd boxes ??? Try some of the 124 grain WWB if available, they work well in mine.

Funny you should mention your FTE problem. I've been having similar problems with ejection. The slide makes it about 3/4 of the way back, but then hangs up on the next round to be fed from the mag and the extractor slips off the spent casing. I've been reading on other forums, and some people claim the Winchester Value pack cartridges have a slightly different 'rim' design which causes ejection/extraction problems in some guns...apparently, mine is one of these guns! I'll try different ammo ASAP!
