I picked up a FEG Hi Power clone today, model PJK-9HP. It popped up on a local classifieds site today for $350 and I jumped on it.

I have been looking for a Hi-Power for a awhile and this one looked good. It is my first 9mm. I haven't put any lead down-range but just from feel alone, I am very happy with this gun.

FEG HP clone

That's a good buy at that price. I bought a refinished one about 2 years ago for $275. It already had the mag safety removed and had a lighter trigger than my actual MKIII hi power. Most folks don't know that FEG actually started producing these just after the patent expired on the original. If your gun shows the barrel catch(weird oval imprint on RS) it probably has full compatability with original hi power parts. Good guns, great price tag.

Nice grab. I have 2 - 1 Israeli surplus model that I picked up from Coles Dist. and Duracoated, and 1 really nice blued gun that I traded for an SKS that had been sitting in the safe too long.

Both are the model that is fully compatible with BHP parts, which is nice. The bluing on these guns is beautiful. Removing the magazine safety will turn a gritty trigger into a very nice one.

Here's an excellent resource on these FEGs:

I have an FEG model and its a great pistol. The bluing is beautiful, its been 100% reliable, and its one of the more accurate pistols I own. I won't be parting with mine any time soon.

I got one,......

......it's the second rendition. Still the SA version before they came out with that strange S&W type, DA/SA. The internals are still compatible. Love the blueing. FEGs are really under-rated. Mine shoots better than I do.

I used to have a FEG SMC-380. Beautiful PPK clone. Should've kept it but it used to slice my hand into hamburger like a true PPK. That sale helped finance my Sig 232. It's all good.

Enjoy that shooter!

Bought mine as a BHP intro/stop gap until I could get a Browning. But after a trigger job, it shoots so perfectly I can't see letting it go or justify spending another $400 for an equivalent condition Browning.

I have mine too and really treasure it. The blueing is superb, although the trigger and edges are bit rough but the price makes up for it. I used mine for my first qualification CHL class and got very tight groups. Nice .

A friend of mine has one of the two tone models with the blued slide and matte chrome frame. The factory did a nice job of polishing the slide because the bluing looks especially nice. It has great high visibility sights, very good overall fit and finish, and a decent trigger pull once he removed the mag safety.

Help me out. Is it really "a clone"? Did FEG produce all the parts in that country, or did they just assemble them and roll the text on the slide?

For what it's worth, the FEG IS a Hi Power. Good guns. My brother has one and it shoots VERY well. Good purchase!

FEG made Hi-powers for Mauser and for the Israelis. They are good pistols and while not all are true HP clones, the military ones are.

I have a Browning in 100% condition that I have shot, but for the most part it just sits in my safe. It's a true safe queen. This past year I found a FEG locally that I snagged for $239. Internally it is in outstanding condition but externally the slide was pitted and looked like it had been dragged through riprap. I had the gun refinished with GunKote, and while not perfect it looks pretty doggone good. This one was imported by CAI and has the lanyard ring. I have read that it is a military FEG that is in original condition and isn't cobbled together. The gun is a sweet shooter and the trigger is superior to the Browning if only because I wasn't afraid to remove the mag safety on the FEG. While the Browning is a superb pistol the FEG has become the one that I love to shoot. Like I have heard about some other FEGs it tends to shoot high and to the right. With a little drift of the sights and maybe an ammo change it should shoot true. I do get a little contact from the hammer but not enough to cause any pain, only just the slightest contact.

For someone looking at wanting a High Power who doesn't want to break the bank, or can't score an FN/Browning, or is protecting a safe queen, the FEG is the way to go.

The Gunbroker FEG linked above is the S&W type variant. Note the slide mounted safety. It's not a High Power but might still be worth owning.

I put one mag through it today just to check function and it ran without a hiccup. It looks like I have one of the high power copies because mine has the oval mark on the side of the frame.

The ammo I shot was tula so I feel good I can run about anything through it.
