So for no legitimate reason, my police chief granted me a Class B non-large capacity LTC (said it was because I just turned 21 and it was my first time applying).
I'm finding that there is mass confusion (no pun intended) about what is considered large capacity. Here are the listed large capacity firearms:
http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/chsb/firearms/large_capacity_roster_12-2010.pdf
And here are the Massachusetts approved firearms:
http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/chsb/firearms/approved_firearms_roster_04-2011.pdf
So, through deductive reasoning, wouldn't it make sense that any approved firearm that is NOT listed as large capacity should be legal to buy for any Class B LTC holder?
I've been told by a dealer that I cannot purchase any Glock because they are capable of taking a high capacity magazine. That's all well and good but there are loopholes to this legislation.
The Ruger SR9, for example, is a high capacity gun. But, there is a 10 round magazine package available to Class B LTC holders. Now what irks me is the fact that the gun is still capable of taking a high capacity magazine. It's the 10 round magazine that makes the gun legal for me to own.
So, technically, shouldn't I be able to own any Massachusetts approved firearm as long as I only use a 10 round magazine (maximum)?
