Here's the deal. This year or next year I'm planning to do a hunt where I take a video of the pre-hunt and during-hunt, and after-hunt to post on youtube, etc.

The main point is going to be how camo is overrated and unnecessary, so I'll be wearing a early 70s tuxedo and top hat with ruffled shirt like Jim Carrey wore in Dumb & Dumber. The gun used to harvest is going to be a shiny stainless steel revolver to further drive home the point.

The question is, should I choose a snubbie .38 special (Taurus 85), in order to make two points with one stone (that magnumitis is as overrated as camo is), or should I stick with a more powerful round and run with my shiny revolver in .454 Casull? Choosing the latter is more of the KISS priniciple - only make one major point with the video, re: camo.

Leaning towards the longer barreled .454 revolver for more accuracy and sticking with the KISS principle, but it'd be pretty funny if I could get a deer within about 7 yards so that I could ethically take it with a .38 special +P (CNS shot).

Second question: Where does one buy such costumes as this?

[The orange suit will of course double as my legal blaze]

Also, who volunteers to be my cameraman?

I actually am wanting a .45 Colt Redhawk, and I'm on the lookout for one.

Here are the three shiny revolvers I have to choose from:

1. Taurus 85 snubbie, .38 spl
2. Taurus RB 6", .454 Casull
3. S&W Moutain Gun 4", .45 Colt (ooh, almost forgot about this one)

I volunteer.

FYI:
The snubbie might be prohibited per some min. barrel length regulation. In Colorado, handguns have to be min. 4" barrel, as well as a few other regs like caliber, muzzle energy, etc.

Awesome idea. I'd use the bigger revolver though. I don't think the .38 snubbie would be a good choice. You'd have so many Youtube comments talking about how you shouldn't use the .38 that it would take away from the success of the camo experiment.

For TV? You need bling!

If you use the 38 you will prove that it's possible to harvest an animal without a magnum.

The downside is people that are not capable might try it. Let the nehsayers stay that way.

I think that's the whole idea behind using the .38 snubbie. To disprove such ignorance.

I'll do video and still photo's! The audio track should be pre-written, let's spoof everything about modern hunting video's. :neener:

Great idea! :D

Great idea, I'd go with the .45 colt, not a magnum cartridge, and plenty of pop for close range big game.

I find it funny how generations of hunters used red and black flannel for their hunting attire, and now we need a thousand dollars worth of camo? Good grief!

Over the last 40 some odd years, I've hunted just about everything in North America. With the exception of turkey, duck and geese, I've never seen the need to camo up and have rarely done so. Unless it's wet, snow on the ground or really cold, you'll generally see me wearing tennis shoes, levis and a tee-shirt with a hunting vest.

Don't have my Freedom Arms 97 - yet!

But come to think of it, I'll probably run with the S&W mountain Gun .45 colt, just because of the stupid porting on the RB. I'll increase my effective range from 7 or 8 yards out to 25-30 or so, since the .45 Colt is good for a heart/lung shot. It'd be a real shame to have all the pre-video stuff done, and have a deer walk by at 20 yards and I'm holding a snubbie - no way I'm taking that unethical shot!

What bullet/load for .45 colt for this - opinions/input?
