I have perched some Rainier LeadSafe Bullets 40 S&W, (400 Diameter) 180 Grain Plated Flat Nose and I would like to know if anyone has used these and if so can you suggest some starting loads for accuracy? I am new to reloading. Thank you guys for all your help.

You can use any published load data for the starting to mid power loads for Jacketed bullets. Just don't try to go max with plated bullets.

Here are a few good powders to consider.
Titegroup = 4.0
Bullseye = 5.0
700-X = 5.0
Unique = 6.0
Power-Pistol = 6.2

I have had some good results using the 180g. Rainiers over 4.2 of Tite Group with an OAL of 1.135". I haven't chronoed this load load (Glock 23), so I have no idea about power factor. I made the mistake of over crimping the plated bullets and had some accuracy problems. As soon as I backed of the crimp, the groups tightened right up. Good luck and be safe.

The standard I used for power and accuracy back when I was a massive volume reloader was to buy Fiocchi rounds and attempt to equal or better their performance. Gave me something to go on.

I have had good luck with Universal Clays and AA #5 in the .40, if you happen to have either of those.

I like 6.2gr of Hodgdon HS-6 with 188gr plated bullets from Ranier. I was advised that I should compute loads with plated bullets as if they were lead. With that, I definitely start at the lower end of the spectrum of the starting point of loads.

This is a load for the 40S&W that I use. You didn't state if you wanted that or for the 10mm...:confused:

Just my $.01....
