hello fellows, i need some info on a nice colt mkiv/series 80 380 it is not the plus II or the pocketlite or goverment. its the mustang standard it is in very very good condition , i have been doing research on the gun and it seems to be a collectable but all the ones i see come with the plastic carry box and other boxes i see the card board style all have the smaller colt logo. i do have the instructions also , by the way it is the stainless mustang no blueing . i can not seem to find a box like this one i have looked every where. i am not into collecting so i was going to take it to local gun store here to see what type of trade in they where to offer, any help from you all would be great , i dont want to give it to them if you know what i mean , but do want a good trade in value. and the box is a card board box but the colt logo covers the hole top lid not like the small logos i have been seeing. can any one help me out on this ??

The Box

Does your box have a sticker on the side indicating model #, serial # etc.? Is it a decal placed on top of a wood grain appearring box, or is it literally a part of the box? Ditto, styrofoam or other insert? This doesn't smell quite okay.

As to trade-in, I reccommend you look to sell it yourself. If you've checked the auction sites you know these have a following. I would not expect a dealer to even offer 85% of what the small Colts are bringing on Gunbroker etc.

Good Luck.

I suspect it's been re-boxed. that doesn't look like any limited edition packaging I've ever seen.

Custom shop models are maked on the slide and ship in a blue cardboard box in a paper sleeve.

mustang box

the box has no serial # no caliber # no stickers at all and the top logo is part of the box not a decal its a print.. kinda like wat te pyton came in . but logo as you can see covers intire top lid , and i havent seen none at all like it. i seen a box go on ebay card board for python for over 100.00 with small logo no insert buy with instructions.. its got me corn fused!!!!..lol
