Alright guys I have a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser built a a German 98 Mauser action and I need load data I am using a 120 grain Nolser bullet thanks guys

Don't you have manuals that list 120gr bullets for your Swede?

If not, go to the powder manufacture's/Distributor's web site and check them out. It'e even free.

Nosler also has Free data on-line.

Yes Steve I do have 5 different manuals and yes I am sure the Nolser data is online but I came to thr to learn and ask questions now if you don't have anything constructive to say in the thread why don't you just refrain from posting then thanks here is a thought maybe I am not near my manuals and maybe just maybe somebody on here has a great load

You didn't ask for a "Great Load", you asked for this.

You want constructive advice, "Look it up in your manuals".

Load data is in every manual, it is also on every powder Manufacturer's/ Distributor's web site. Look it up and do your own research. Looking for someone to spoon feed your load data is not what handloading is all about.

I have an 1894 Swede sporterized some time in the 60s. I shoot the same Nosler bullet over 37.5 grs of IMR4064. I can take it up to 38 grs before accuracy starts to fall off in my rifle but 37.5 seems to be the sweet spot.

I like coming here to ask questions on loads because not every possible powder/bullet/primer/COL combination is covered even on the on-line manufacturers sights. Plus...some people can add tips that no manual ever thought of and variables such as receiver styles...barrel length...barrel twist...throat leade and even stock configurations can be introduced and almost start their own sub-thread. I love the 6.5 caliber but my bullet favorites are in the 140...160 grain class. What are you wanting to do with the load in the Swede?

Bexar I agree I pefer the 140 grain bullets but the 120 grainers landed in my lap at a great price so I'm going to shoot them as far as what I want to do with them is as follows I want to make a ragged hole as close to one shot groups as I can get at 100 yards I loaded for my friends 270 and now he shots sub 3/4 Moa and I aim to do better than him once again Steve you are not helping at all so I'd be most appreciative if you just kept your comments to yourself I wasn't asking anyone to spoon feed me thanks though for your opinion

Horsemen...Unfortunately, I don't have any load data for that particular bullet but if you're looking for a one-hole'r group my considering powder load density...slow powders...brass re-sizing techniques and distance from bullet to rifle barrel lands really effected accuracy for me. The greatest enjoyment I have with this sport is fine tuning rifle/round combos for precision. While I can't contribute to this load request I will be "looking over your shoulder" to see what others might post on this thread.

Thanks

horsemen61, as much as it pains me to say this, please add punctuation to your posts. They're very difficult to read. Also, if you want help, quit being snarky with those you asked for help.

I'm having a 6.5x55 built shortly and I've had very good success with IMR4064 with two cartridges that have about the same capacity as the 6.5x55 and are on either side of it in terms of caliber, 257 roberts and 7x57. That will also be the powder I will start with in the 6.5x55. Hodgdon list 40 gr as the max load w/ 120 gr ballistic tips. Winchester case and Primer.

Best results have been with IMR 4350 and RL 19. First deer I ever killed with a handload was a 120 BT out of my Swede pushed by 45gr of 4350. Worked like a charm, he was dead before he knew he had been hit.
For everything Swede consult Nosler first, they have real data for a modern action.

In my experience, I seem to get better accuracy with the medium burning powders, like IMR-4895, IMR-4064 and H-4895 than the more often recommended slower burners like 4350, 4831, Reloder 19 and 22. I have settled on the accuracy load listed in my Sierra manual for my Swede chambered Howa 1500: 120 gr Sierra Pro Hunter, 40.5 gr IMR-4064, RP 9 1/2 PRIMER, PPU case. It given the most consistent accuracy in my rifle.

I've had good results with Ramshot Hunter, but with 120 gr Remmy PSPs, not Noslers. I was at the LGS today and picked up some Reloder17 to try, and I've thought about having a go with Norma 204, as it always seems to be available. From advice I've been given on reloading for the Swede, IMR4350 is the reference benchmark - but I have no experience with it.
