What load gives you guys the best results in 6.5x55? I was thinking about using a Speer 120-grain spitzer with IMR 4350, but it seems like a lot of folks like the 140-grainers. If I went with that bullet weight (for white tail), it would give me an excuse to buy some Reloder 22.

I like a bulk Remington solf point loaded over 44 grains of H414.

My 6.5 is a sporterized '96 Mauser, and is long-throated. The longer bullets give better accuracy, because I can seat them closer to the rifling.

Matthew,

My 1,000 yard F Class load:

Lapua 6.5x55 brass
142 SMK
Russian or Fed 210 primer
48.0gr Reloader 22

Should work fine with other bullets in the 140gr weight range, but work up to it.

Don

My Kimber-sporterized M96 shoots best with 140-gr bullets. I use 35-gr #4895 mil-surp bulk powder, which is great in everything from .223 NATO through .30-06 and 8-mm Mauser.

This has supplanted my trusty sporterized Springfield .30-06 for my favorite deer rifle...
