In follow-up to my earlier thread, I received the Weaver 4-20 super slam and it was nice. I liked the glass a lot. It was very clear.
BUT, the turrets had some issues. One was floating and not tight. It wobbled up and down preventing accurate reading. The other issue was the turrets for the model do not match the pictures, or the user manual. They had screw off caps instead of capless pull up to adjust turrets. The turrets would easily pull up (too easy), but it was to reset zero, not to allow adjustment. The model # on the scope matched and I don't understand why it was so far off.
Natchez has been good to deal with, other than sending me a franken scope. They said it should not have been like that and that they don't sell seconds or gray market goods.
I don't know what to do now though and need some advice.
Here are my perceived options.
1. Have them ship me another scope and hope it is the correct design. I liked the glass and would still be happy with the scope, but am concerned there is something funny going on with the batch they are selling on sale.
2 I was going to change to the weaver euro version for $30 more in hopes that it was more likely to be proper, but then I read it has FFP. I am getting the standard duplex retical and don't need it to look any thinner than it already is (on low power). Why put FFP on a standard retical scope?
3. Open up the wallet a bit more and get the Vortex viper HS-T 6-24 for $200 more. I will lose the 4 power on the bottom but gain it on the top. It has matching clickers and retical but is SFP (18 power for ranging).
Anyone been through something similar? Advice. Thanks.
