Need opinions - 1911's

I use a Kimber Custom II for everything, and I will probably be buried with it. I bought it NIB a few years ago for $630 from Sportsman's Warehouse. If MIM parts and such are doomed to fail, I haven't seen it yet.

The Kimber has the hand-fitted slide and frame, and this is the cheapest gun I know of that does. Remember, the rest of the internals can be tweaked and customized to match spec, but that hand-lapping isn't a project I'm looking forward to on my first hand-built 1911.

I shot a $2700 Nighthawk at Impact once. I failed to see what was so great about it that justified a price tag 4x greater.

The RIA or new Taurus models are probably fantastic, with just a little more jiggle in them than a gun with a hand-fitted slide. I just want to give my gun every possible advantage, to make up for my lack of skill.

Springfield. I've had a Milspec for 13 years and it has been flawless.
