Hi guys,
I was just offered a NIB Winchester '94 in 357 Mag. I don't know what year it is but it is a 16" barell, angle eject model. There are two numbers on the box but I don't know if one is a serial #. They are: 14423 and 6238374. The 14423 is also in the bar code. It also has the "saddle ring"

Please help. What is the value of this rifle?

Thank you

No but I'm thinking about getting either that or it's marlin alternative, so I look forward to peaking in on your thread.

Dont know if it was a great deal but I paid $400 2 years ago for a NIB 94 Trapper in 45 Colt. It's something you dont find everyday. It's makes a dandy little truck gun.

DubbleA- Wow, thats an awesome rifle! I've always wanted one in 45LC.

PS. I think you did pretty good at $400

I have been thinking about getting one in 357. It's a good all around caliber that can be used in my revolver or a lever gun. Nice find.

I picked up a Marlin 1894 .357 mag about 6 months ago for $350.00. It really is a sweet shooter. Here it is with my 30AS .30-30.

I paid $400 for a new one in 30-30 last year. Much prefer it over the Marlin. It's just so much more refined. Quicker to shoulder. It just comes up and somehow magically points at whatever you're looking at without effort. Plus it's lighter and smaller.

FTSESQ,
What type of safety?

Half cock only?
Cross bolt?
Tang?

Of the latter added safeties I think the tang is the nicest but it was only around for a few years at the end....

Something to think about.
Both the Marlin 1894 and the Winchester 1892 were designed for pistol length calibers.

The long action Winchester 1894 was designed for the 30-30 length rifle cartridge.
The new ones are modified to work reasonably well with short pistol calibers.

Still, from a design standpoint, I believe the pistol length actions of the Marlin 1894 and Win 1892's work better for pistol calibers! Because they were designed for them.
