Need Remington 700 help!!!!

I want a new varmint gun and decided on a 243. I really want a tikka because i have found them to be the best out of the box rife, but they are $200 dollars more all of a sudden this year. So I figured i would go with a 700 sps varmint instead. Now my question is are all 700 models using the same internal parts and quality of barrels? Is the price difference between them purely just the stock and barrel lenght? Also whats my best barrel for long range (for accuracy), should i get the shorter or long barrel model of 700? Am I going to be dissapointed with a 700 sps (or similar model) compared to my Tikka T3 hunter? What about Savage, they have alot of cheap rifles, any good? Sorry in advance for all the questions! Most custom target rifles and sniper rifles are based on the Remington 700. My favorite bolt gun is a Remington 700. I've had several. None were bad.

I have two ordinary M700's, one in 6.5 Swede and the other in 30-06. Both rifles needed to be bedded in order to get best accuracy.

You can't go wrong with the 700. It's good and reliable, and would probably outlast you.

The prices do reflect finish, stock type, etc.

Look into what your needs would be as far as the distance you will be shooting. The weight of the bullet you will use. The distance you will have to carry the rifle to shoot.

Then, go to a shop and handle several of them.

Im looking to shoot out to 350-500 yards on yotes, beavers, and the odd muskrat. The guy in the gun shop told me a 22-250 is only a medium long range rifle, i thought they were a long distance gun? Any way im definatly going with a .243 so i can use it on deer legally also.

All the 700's are the same as far as quality goes. The price differences are in stock, barrel length, caliber, and other factors.

What do you think the best out of the box value of a rife is? As for the savages I was wondering about the cheap ones that come with a scope, prob junk?
