I'm in the market for a new budget 223 for a little bench shooting out to 300 yds. I already own a 700 sps tactical in 308 and a 700 sps varmint in 223. I love the 308 but shooting 223 is just a lot cheaper. The 700 varmint shoots pretty good too, probably better than I do, using 50-62 grain bullets but doesn't do as well with the 69 and 75 gainers at 300 yds. So I was thinking about another 700 sps tactical, this time in 223 or maybe a Tikka T3 varmint. The Remington has a 1:9 twist and the Tikka has a 1:8.
So, my question is do you think it would it be worth it to spend another $100 or so on the Tikka to get the slightly faster twist rate?
