Need some advice, new BP revolver

I grew up shooting BP rifles with my father and also had two revolvers, a Remington and Colt army replica. This was about 25 years ago. I learned a lot about shooting these guns but I remember the steel being very soft and I ended up replacing the trigger/cylinder bolt spring several times.
Anyway, I'm thinking about getting back into BP and was wondering if the modern made replicas have gotten any better. I'd like to get a couple of revolvers in 44 caliber but don't know who makes a good product anymore.

Any advice? I don't really want a Ruger nor a stainless model of any manufacture.

Modern Replicas

The quality of import replica pistols has dramatically improved in the last ten years or so...The metal is still somewhat lacking, but a far cry better than in the past. A Pedersoli steel framed 58 Rem. revolver would be a good one-They even make one with checkered grips& case hardened frame. If you want to see for yourself, go to your local Cabelas(if'n ya have one) and handle one!

I have a pair of Uberi-made Remingtons. I have put over 1000 rounds through each, without any problem worse than a cap jammed in the action. I have no idea how much they were shot before I wound up with them.

I read recently that Uberti is now making forged-frame Remingtons. Those are most likely meant for the Cowboy Action Shooting aficionado who is going to be putting a great many rounds through them.

Are the Cimarron revolvers made by Uberti?

Forged frames

Any word on whether or not they'll be making forged-framed Colts? And yup, Cimarron cap-and-ball revolvers qre Ubertis. Cimarron says that they pay a little extra for a little higher quality product.
