Need some advice on a Taurus 44mag

I have a friend that is looking to sell his Taurus 44Tracker SS. Its got the adjustable rear sight and hasnt been fired much(100rds MAX) and he is the original owner. I can probly get it for $450, if not $400.

Ive been looking for a 44 for HD, and a trail gun, and after some research it seems like a pretty good deal.


What say you?

Price seems good---I just bought a Taurus .357, new, for $575, and really like it.

I have a Tracker M44C in 2.5 inch. It is my hiking companion. $400 would be a good deal. 100 rounds is just starting to break it in.

Have you shot it? I don't like light 44 Magnums much, and I will not own a ported one. If you like it, that's great, have at it. A friend said if a bear attacks you and you shoot one with ports once, you will be killed while trying to decide if you want the pain of pulling the trigger again, or the bear crunching on you.

A Tracker for $400-$450 or a Redhawk for $499?

You should be able to get a Redhawk for about that price (or a little more) if you look around on Gunbroker. Is there a gunshop around you with a Redhawk in stock? Do a side-by-side comparison. There should be no question as to which is the better gun. There not even in the same league. Support the home team; the Ruger is made right here in the USA by a USA-based company! I did a quick Gunbroker search and there's a Redhawk for $499, buy-it-now:
