So I'm in the market for a new 9mm. Price is an issue as I am not made of money and don't have any money trees growing in my back yard unfortunately :(. I have come across 2 guns I am interested in one being the SIG P250 SC and the other the Taurus 809 compact. Only $4 separates the price of the two. I have experience with Tauruses and have been very pleased for the most part. Both guns are new in box, the Taurus comes with 2 mags and is SA/DA but the SIG only comes with one mag and is DAO. Anyone have experience with either or both guns? I like the idea of owning a SIG because I know they have a great rep, but only having one mag is a strike against it in my book. Plus I like the SA/DA option w the 809, but DAO isn't a deal breaker either. I'd really like some honest opinions, please no brand bashing or anything like that. Thanks guys!

I consider the Sig pistols to be some of the finest made pistols in the world, but very much on the expensive side. Having said that, I would suggest you look at the P series of the Ruger handguns. They are extremly well made, accurate, and Ruger has one of the best Customer Service Departments in the industry. Another bonus is the Ruger pistols do come with two magazines and additional ones are fairly reasonable also. :)

I would look at the S&W sigma, it is a rock solid gun. The Sig250 was a flop and the taurus is a taurus. The sigpro 2022 is also a solid gun and I have seen them on sale in the $350 range.

You might also want to consider the Ruger SR9 and SR9c which I have seen priced at right around $400. There are also a number of used S&W Third Generation autos on the market now that would make for a decent and affordable 9mm.

I bought a CZ P-07. The next day I bought a Taurus 24/7/c. The Taurus is easier to clean up, the CZ easier to shoot. The CZ is the better gun IMO

299 will get you a good condition S&W 5906 with a 15 rd magazine . add to that parts are easy to find if needed and you can always send it back to S&W if you need anything serious . probably the best buy on the market at this time . and hands down better then anything that Tarus has

Thanks fellas for your input. I had been looking at some S&W 3rd gen guns also and I've heard great reviews on them and 3 replies so far mentioned them so I went ahead and "pulled the trigger" on a police trade in 6904. Can't wait to get it in the mail. Anyone own one and care to share their thoughts? I figure if police depended on them, then I can to.

I got a new Ruger P95 w/ 2 15 Rd magazines @ LGS for 320 clams that I have been real happy with so far.
