Need suggestions for single stack, cc, 9mm

I agree but in my opinion "fun to shoot" and "single stack CC" have never gone hand in hand.

That is one of my favorite reasons for the CW9. I can put a lot of rounds down range and I don't find it even the slightest bit uncomfortable. We all know that practice is how you become proficient.

However I have heard that the PF9 is not a fun gun at the range.

Checked the S&W site and they've changed format again for the worse

I recall the 908 is 8+1 single stack, stainless steel slide, and alloy frame but black overall finish, Forged barrel 3.5" or 4" Bbl. leng. and S&W's customer serivce is tops - I've only had a small problem with one of my 6 S&Ws I've owned.

Good luck,

Randall

S+W 3953.
DAO version of the 3913 he likes. I believe they were made in smaller numbers than the 3913 but also seem less popular. The last few times I've seen them in shops they've been under $400. (Under $350, actually.) Great carry gun. Thing I like best about this series is they're big enough to be fun and accurate shooters but small enough to carry easily. Your "carry gun" and your "range gun" are the same gun!

Although I am a fan of the 3913, if it simply isn't in the budget, the Kahr CW9 is almost as good. If this is important, it is also quite a bit smaller, but holds one less round as a consequence.

I'm also a fan of the Kahr CW9. Lightweight, easy to conceal, nice smooth trigger action and a pretty good shooter. Very easy gun to conceal. For lightweight carry I use either a CW9 or a S&W 638.

Given the budget, you could get a nice Makarov 9x18 for under $400. Not quite the punch of a 9x19 round, but still a very capable round. I've seen very good condition Mak's going for as little as $250-$300.

I really like the PF-9 for its size, weight, and reliability. The light weight makes it tough to shoot a lot, especially one handed. The trigger is a bit rough, but not really bad and I have been able to get similar accuracy from it to other larger pistols that are easier to shoot. Mine has always been 100% reliable with various brands of ammo to include hollowpoints.

For ultimate concealment, and priced at about $300, I'd give the PF-9 a hard look.

If I wanted better shootability and could live with relatively less concealability, I'd look for a used Sig P-6 police trade-in at around $400.

kahr cw-9 can be fond used at this price. Wife took mine for her pistol .Only had 2 days before she found it.
They can be found NEW for $400. I'll pile on to the CW9 band wagon. My CW is a 40, but the CW9 is just as good and arguably a friendlier shooter.

S&W 908.... A cut rate version of the 3913. Look for a used one. Trijicon makes night sights for it when budget allows.

taurus pt-709. great design, great trigger, soaks up recoil like a full size. mine has been flawless since day 1.

at the $400 and under price range, i can't think of a better choice. if he could spend more, check out the kahr pm9, of course.

I've got a pf-9 and will probably be shelving it for now. I has had about 4 feed errors out of 250 rounds. I know one of those is probably limp wrist related. I have not done the fluff n buff that ktog seems to recommend yet either. Where as with my same shooting style an XD sub compact, HK compact, Khar CW40 and CW45 (haven't shot a 9m yet) and 1911 compact (cant remember if it is the officer or what the official name for it is) have not had those problems. For something that is going to be a life saver I'd rather up the budget and get something I feel 100% carrying around.

The sweetest CC carry 9mm pistol I own is the Walter PPS. Even with the 8-round mag, it's very easy to conceal. Nice shooter, too. It is a smidge outside of your price range, but not by too far.
