I have a stripped lower and jumped on the backorder stuff for complete ar15 uppers I have one on backorder from midway that I have 17 days left to see if it shows up. Dpms was supposed to ship them yesterday and got pushed back to the 17th. But I also have noticed you can't buy ammo for it right know anywhere. I do already reload for other calibers so will reload .223 also. I am not sure if I should just site tight and wait out all the panic buyers on the ar15 and go ahead and buy the taurus 740 slim I was looking at. I have wanted to build a ar15 for years just seems like always find or have some other bills that suck up the money. I am thinking it will take nearly a year to actually beable to get .223 ammo again with all the back orders out there. What would you do. Then I also have thought do I just sit on midway back order list and see what happens, I just wish they notified me before they charged me, and try to go buy the taurus 740 slim anyway.

Opinion here. Since you've wanted an AR for a while now, hang in there and get it together, even if it takes a month of Sundays.
As for ammo, same thing. Ride it out, get on the waiting list and when you can, order the max amount you either can afford at the moment or they (supplier) will let you.
If this was an impulse "but everybody's doing it" buy, I'd say drop it and get the Taurus.
