I normally don't ever sell guns but I have a glock g23 that I am not very interested in. I don't like carrying it so I never really shoot it. I have a bodyguard 380 that I carry every day and I also have Taurus pt145 that I don't carry often since buying the bodyguard. But I was at the gun show over the weekend and seen a taurus 740 that I really like a in between of what I have to carry more often. So made a couple calls today and found local gun store I deal with that will buy my g23 and I can get the taurus 740. Almost headed down to see him and started thinking do I really want a 40. I only reload 38,380,45 and very soon .223. Not sure if I should go ahead and plan to start to load 40 also. Or do I sell my glock and use the money and go ahead and build the .223 I want I only have a stripped lower currently. But I also am not sure I don't want another pistol and build the ar15 after tax return. The gun store also recommended the xds 45 but I am not sure I want to fork out the extra 250.00 more than the 740. But on the other hand I am like well I have a 45 why get another. I need some recommendations from you guys what you would do.

I would not count on any tax refund at this point. Consider looking at what you have and why it doesn't get carried by you.. If the answer is for lack of a better belt or holster then I would consider those to be primary on the list rather than hoping yet another change of platform will fix what is wrong.

If indecision gets the better of you, seems you've got one project that could stand some attention in light of recent political banter.

Holsters not the issue I am just not a glock guy never have been. I really like to carry everything I own chambered and I prefer to have the thumb safety glock just does not have. I am aware of the political ban but I figured that would only be the lower's not uppers since they are not tagged. That is also why yesterday I got a stripped lower.

Regardless of whether you want to carry it or not ....if you don't like it, sell it .....

To each his own ....but there are all kinds of handguns I own, that I'll never carry personally ( my primary carry gun is a Wilson, CQB 5" in .45 acp )...but guns I have in my collection, that I still shoot pretty often, but don't want to carry ....

Sig 226's - I could carry them if I wanted to carry a double stack, DA-SA gun - but I don't want to carry them( have a good holster for them - one in 9mm and one in .40S&W ).

Way too heavy to carry:
Sig 226 X -Five
N frame S&W revolvers - in 6" and 8 3/8" ( in .357 mag and .44 mag )
Single action Freedom Arms revolvers.....

but I like everything - and I'm not selling anything...

Regardless of whether it's a gun or any other tool that is subject to personal taste, if it isn't to your liking, by all means sell it and get one that is.

Forgive my saying so, but your setup seems a little convoluted. I'm at a loss for why you reload for a lot of pistol cartridges, but NOT the one you carry. Yes, start loading .40.

I see no pluses to getting rid of a good gun. If you want something else, go ahead and get it, and I often tell people that just because you buy a gun once doesn't mean you are required to stay in love with it forever, but I think you will like having more options in the long run than that $350 you will get for selling it. You can grow and evolve, but I don't think it's productive to change guns every time you see a new pretty one. (You will keep doing it forever.)

I'm not one to trade, in 30 years of shooting I've sold one .22 rifle for accuracy issues that would have been expensive to overcome and a muzzleloader that choked three times when it mattered but...if you really don't like your Glock I'd sell it and finish your current project or as mljdeckard suggested keep it. Not a Glock fan myself but if I had one you can bet I'd put enough lead, ok jacketed through it to make peace.

Those of us who've gone through the ban before know what's about to happen to magazines, primers and brass. Consider jumping on current needs before adding another pistol, holsters and spare mags. to your list. IOW stock up for what you have.

When I get a gun that I don't enjoy shooting I move it on. No need to have something just setting around that never gets used. Very seldom this happens but everynow and then, move on.

I don't reload 40 because I don't ever shoot it and I don't carry it I have not shot it in atleast 3 years. I have not carried it in atleast 5 years neither. I have not decided what I want to do with it but will decide something soon. Thanks for all the advice.

Out of all my guns....( based on the rough log I keep on each gun - rounds fired for practice, so I know when to change springs, etc )...

Caliber ......and the % I shoot that caliber ( and I shoot about 8 - 12 boxes a week )

a. 9mm..... 65%
b. .45 acp ..... 15%
( both of them primarily in 1911's )

c. .357 Mag 13 %
(mostly in 3 S&W revolvers / one Freedom Arms revolver) - even though I have over 25 revolvers that I like...

d. .22 3 %
e. .44 Mag 2%
f. .40 S&W 1%
g. .38 spl 1 %

but in my semi-autos the .40 S&W does get left out ....and its just not a caliber I shoot too much - even though I have some very nice guns in that caliber....( I reload and 9mm is less than $6 a box for me to shoot - easy on my hands, etc ) ...I carry a 1911 in .45 acp so I shoot it enough ...(but I have the same gun in 9mm and .45 acp ) so I get a lot of practice with the 1911 platform in 5" guns.

Sometimes I just make it a .40S&W practice day...and the Sigs and my 1911 go to the range...but it seems like that is less and less...

Balistically ....and entertainment wise....the 9mm, .45 acp and the .357 mag ...give me everything I want ...and the others get left out - so I see why you're asking...

Yesterday was kind of typical ....4 boxes of 9mm thru a 1911 / 4 boxes thru a S&W N frame .357 mag....ran some tactical drills, in and out of a holster, double taps, reloads...working on my revolver reloads a lot / trigger control..etc.../ just hanging out for a few hours and having some fun.

Well, I don't buy guns to start with unless I really like/want them (I'm not a "trader" and I don't buy with the intention to "flip" a gun sell for a profit), so I always plan on keeping them. But I am susceptible to the "latest gleam in the eye" syndrome and when that latest wish makes itself manifest and I have no jingle in my jeans, well, I start looking at my "collection" to see which gun I'm willing to part with in order to satisfy the newest whim. And that has generally meant trading a gun (that I still like a lot) to get another gun (that, at the time, I think I like even more); a transaction that invariably leads to "trader's remorse". So, when I say "ask me how I know", this is how I know-and I now do my best to refrain from succumbing to the latest temptation and bide my time until I have enough money to get what I want without parting with a firearm I still want.
I hope this explanation suffices, slidemuzik. I confess my rationale is kind of complicated to follow but this is the best I can do to elucidate.
