What do you fellas think of the New England Firearms turkey model shotguns?

I'm considering purchasing one of the 12 gauge models with an extra-full screw-in choke as a dedicated turkey gun.

I have some imput, hope it helps.

I just finished converting a standard model without chokes to a youth model. I shortened the stock and added in a lead weight in the buttstock so the finished weight was almost the same. I also ported the barrel and added a magnum recoil pad.

Recoil with high brass turkey loads is brutal.

Trust me.

If you don't mind that the shotgun worked fine except the barrel latch would sometimes disconnect from the recoil. I think a heavier spring should fix it but check it out. My nephew said his 20 ga. would sometimes do the same thing so it may be a problem with all the models.

My great-nephew killed his first turkey with that shotgun yesterday but we had him use standard load 6 shot instead of turkey loads. Might be a lesson there somewhere:D
