I have a love for dogs, especially German Shepherds as I have owned several and currently own one. So obviously I enjoy TV shows and such that relate to them. I started watching the series called K-9 Cops on Animal Planet. I watched one episode and then started watching the second episode and realized this was not the show for me.
They had numerous officers in an interview situation throughout the program talking about the evil of guns and how they now seem to be everywhere. It was so repetitive it wasn't funny. They left the person watching the show with the idea that guns were bad and all crimes centered around them. It made it appear that anyone with a gun was a trouble maker and criminal.
What they didn't talk about was how these criminals got these guns
( illegally ). They said nothing about the law abiding gun owners such as you and myself. They never mentioned what we go through to purchase guns or to obtain a CCW.
It just left me with a sour taste in my mouth. The show did a great job of making guns and their owners out to be the villain rather then making the criminal out to be the bad guy.
I guess my concern is that the uneducated public and average citizen will consider anyone with a gun to be bad.
I refuse to watch the show anymore.
Do you think I am being over reactive here ? Is it worth some of us firing off e-mails to Animal Planet telling them they need to present the entire story and if not we will no longer support their sponsors ?
