Nevada/Michigan Sign Reciprocity Agreement

Oregon does not have Reciprocity in their law. They only issue non resident permits to the residents of the states that boarder Oregon. Maine is working up a list of states they will honor and that is the last one left for Michigan to sign with. All the remaining states do not have reciprocity in their law.

I have been watching the Laws of all the states for years and have a little system worked out to check on every states reciprocity page. It takes me 6 to7 minutes to check all 34 states on my list. I do it everyday after 5pm eastern time.

Then I check out about 8 to 10 boards at least once a day for any info posted about laws etc. I learn a lot and find out different things about the different states by what people post. I get emails from people telling me about changes in the laws. The vast majority of the time I am aware of the changes but then I get some gold nuggets every once in awhile that makes Handgunlaw.us the most up to date Data Base on CCW on the web.

Besides I was the person who supplied 95+ Percent of all the data on the old Packing.org site. I have been doing it so long it is really much easier now. IN fact 9/11 made info from all branches of Government easier to access. They want to do everything electronically now when in pre 9/11 days they laughed at those who sent emails. They didn't think we mattered.

Just keep on those in Nevada to keep adding states. Every time we add another state to any list of states that permits are honored we are one step closer to being able to carry everywhere. It will happen. It just takes time.

Gary, do you know who it is in the DPS who is in charge of reciprocity or what the process is? There's several of us over on the OC board that live in Reno/Carson and are active in local politics. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one that would want to help the process along!

There is a board set up to look at all the states and the local Sheriffs have input also. I do think that the local sheriffs have veto power over the process. If they don't want it it doesn't happen. The law was passed 6 to 8 months ago that set it up. Talk to your local sheriff and your state reps. The laws can always be changed and this was just the first step. At least now with them honoring FL anyone can get legal in NV if they have to. It cost some money but at least they can legally carry there with a FL permit which is a lot easier to get than a NV Non Resident Permit.

Few Months back

WV has signed with 12 states now and is working on more. The WVCDL is very busy trying to get more agreements. They are also very busy trying to get the legislature to change the laws and honor all permits and remove the resident permit only stipulation.
