Nevada Reciprocity?

You mean I spent a ton of money travelling to and from NV and taking their class for nothing... :( I have 6 other permits, Im sure one of those will be honored...what a crock of crap.

camslam,

once you have a blue card is it good indefinitely or do you have to renew every time you return to Vegas.
I believe it is good until your permit expires. I'm not sure. I'll let you know next week after I go there and get mine. I'll be registering my S&W 442, 642, Glock 26 & Kimber Ultra Raptor II.

Blue card and your weapon registration will remain in their computer system until you change the status by going to them and doing so.

If you're a local and you sell me your "carded" handgun, "we" go down and register the weapon in my name and I get a new blue card w/ firearm info and they keep your old card. Then WE are both in their system, but I am now the "registered" owner. (Actually "We" do not have to go down together. In the past, when I've purchased your weapon, I take your blue card, a bill of sale you write me and the handgun and register it. They keep your old blue card and issue me a new one. Only once have I purchased one where the seller not have a blue card, or so he said, they ran the weapon #, came back and gave me my new card.)

If you do NOT live in NV, and sold me your handgun whilst in Clark Co., we'd have to have a licensed FFL involved and HE would give me my new blue card after the legally processed transaction occurs.

If you sell your "registered in Clark Co." weapon to someone else in your home state, Metro has no way of knowing that and you and the weapon will remain married in their system. I do not know if you could then go to Metro and "Un"register it, but I guess you could try it you deemed it necessary.

They do not expire in any other way. As one Cop told me, "Once you're in the system, you're in the system for life." A minor inconvenience and it does allow them to take "unregistered" weapons off the streets whenever they interact with someone breaking that law and gives Metro another reason for your ride downtown and processing. Probably not one of the sights you want to see when visiting Sin City.

From a source on a Nevada TV station, the first batch is;

Alaska
Arkansas
Kansas
Louisiana
Missouri
Nebraska
Tennessee
Utah

Beginning Oct. 1, the state of Nevada will recognize permits from eight other states that allow people to carry concealed weapons, the Nevada Department of Public Safety announced.

Those states are Alaska, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee and Utah.

The 2007 Nevada Legislature passed a law that allowed concealed carry permits from other states to be used in Nevada. The Department of Public Safety, with the help of the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association, reviewed the laws from other states. It found 16 other states that had an electronic database accessible 24 hours a day that identifies valid permit holders. Of those 16, only eight had concealed carry permit laws that were as stringent or more stringent than Nevada, the Department of Public Safety said.
It will review the list of approved states every year, the Department of Public Safety said.

WooHoo Add another to the list...

MO's permit was already good in 32 states... add NV to the list, and from what I understand, WV is 'coming soon'... Considering that just a few years ago you couldn't legally carry in MO at all, not bad.. not bad at all. :D

I still don’t understand. How can any license not be good in any state? Your driver’s license is. Your wedding license is. Can someone explain that to me?

Article IV
Sect. 1. Full faith and credit shall be given in each State to the public act, records, and judicial proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may, by general laws, prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.

Because the states have agreed to reciprocally honor the other states' licenses.

Because it's firearms.
People aren't afraid of your car, or your wedding ring. People are irrationally terrified by your gun.

w00t! I have my UT and NE permits. A vacation at Lake Tahoe would be nice...

My best man, a bachelor, looks at my wedding ring as if I have leprosy on my left hand. However, he thinks my WASR is cool (and by cool I mean totally sweet).

I wish you could get an out-of-state MO CCW license - loads of states recognize MO's.

Oh well, Florida's is also widely recognized.

Which states other than Florida issue non-resident licenses?
Utah and Pennsylvania, for starters. Utah's is almost as good as Florida's, in terms of where you can carry. It's cheaper too, but the wait is getting long since everyone wants one.

What a crock...I just spent a ton on travel, etc. to get my non res nevada permit.

This permit is useless to me now since I already had UT, I want my money back!

What's the big deal? I travel all over the western US, except the PRK and only have Oregon and Washington permits. New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and south western Colorado on a regular basis and deal with LEOs there. They all know I carry and I've never had a problem with my Oregon resident license. Am I missing something here?
